new web pages.
Otilie Hayna (ohayna@mixteco.utm.mx)
Dear Sirs:
Allow me to introduce myself, I´m Otilia Hayna Head of Public Relations
of the Universidad Tecnológica de la Mixteca.
This University has been functioning sisnce 1990 in the mixtec region
of Oaxaca, in Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca to be precisely.
I have been reading your page with quite interest and thought that your
readers might like to know of the existence of two new web pages that
promote two indigenous cultures the Mixtec culture and the Zapotec culture.
You can find the first culture at: http//:www.utm.com.mx
and the second at: http//www.umar.com.mx
I hope you enjoy the pages, for it has been a very important project for
both universities and one that we hope enlightens people on the beauty
of these cultures.
I would like to take a moment as well to let you know about a bachelors
degree that's being offered in Mexican Studies at the Universidad Tecnológica
de la Mixteca: http://www.utm.com.mx
If at all posible we would appreciate it very much if you contact us with
a surface mail where we could send some posters and information packets
about this degree.
Thank you very much for reading this letter, Sincerely yours,

About
the "a rare dictionary id born"
By Andrea Peterson (pinopiaa@hotmail.com)
Looking around oaxaca.com, I've found an interesting article about a Zapotec
dictionary.
I have to say, I'm disappointed on the whole thing, to me It's nothing
more than a fraud , a lie, an exaggeration and an overall humiliating
statement towards Zapotec culture.
This article has been published in a US newspaper, written by some obviously
miss informed journalists an a so called Oaxacan named Felipe Lopez.
The complete article speaks lowly of the Zapotec people. I was born in
the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and I felt very aggravated by this article's
content.
To begin, the use of the word "Indian" referring to Zapotec people is
incredibly wrong; any informed person (you would assume that someone with
a Master's Degree IS) would know the difference between that, and an -indigenous-
person.
Indian- India
Indigenous- Zapotec Nation
Look It up in a dictionary fellow professionals.
However, and continuing with my comments about the article; Mr. Felipe
Low self esteem, is not in any way reflection of a general feeling about
the Zapotecx language.
I just can't see how some hurtful comments can influence a person to the
point where he comes to believe, even at a grown age, that all people
enjoy humiliating a Zapotec language speaker.
This resentment has, as I see It persisted in time and reflected in his
comments on the article published about his co-written dictionary.
He talks about him not being able to complete the dictionary without his
UCLA's colleagues support, support he considers, he would have not found
amongst his own people.
!LIAR!
MI message to him is: Felipe, If you had only asked around a little harder,
you would have found plenty of people willing to support your project
here, in Oaxaca, Mexico. I know more than a handful of professionals interested
enough in preserving our beautiful culture, as to give you a hand in your
research, including myself.
You have insulted us gravely with your assumption that "Oaxacans don't
really care about their native language". I ask for an apology from you
to your people for this aggravation.
Sure, the US is a great place with beautiful people, I live here!, but
NOTHING excuses your attitude and humiliating comments towards and about
us. Instead of judging your own from a distance , come and help us with
something; teach Zapotec, listen to pledges, learn from tradition, appreciate.
To finalize, one last comment about this article's title "a rare dictionary
is born". Dictionary- yes, "rare"-no. I invite you to visit my home library
and read more than 6 Zapotec dictionaries or visit the Santo Domingo Museum's
Library.
I believe you will find plenty of evidence to dispute the "rareness"of
your dictionary.
Dear fellow nationals, let's not be underestimated , us, our neighbors,
and our children.
Show this man he is wrong , we DO care about our roots, we DO appreciate
his work, and we would have extended him a helping hand when needed.
Regards.

Deciphering
the past to build the future
The Aztec mission
For: Guillermo Brave Ramirez (grbravo2@yahoo.com)
Montreal, Canada - When the Mexican town left Aztlan (Mexica, in Nahuatl,
means: Wise Mexicano)nadie which serious the mission that would have to
complete. Through the centuries, nobody has dared to say on what it consists
the Aztec Mission. In 1984, the sages of the Mexicanidad (Mexicayotl)
regrupados in the Confederation of the Solar Mexicanidad, published an
official statement in the national press (One But One, December 11 1984
p.28) to announce to the town of Mexico that the country entered in its
final route. That our old grandparents ordered to warn that to the beginning
of the Second Anahuac it would begin the it finishes stage of Mexico.
The Second Anahuac coincidiacon the year of 1984, it was said. The Confederation
of the Solar Mexicanidad affirmed that Mexico would owe reimplantar the
Mexicayotl, to come undone of all foreign influence, to restart the progress
that him off fué from 1521, but it is never said that that finishes stage
of Mexico was the Aztec Mission, although you could reach that conclusion
for analysis characteristic of the reader. Very far from Mexico, in Canada,
an almost unknown singer, Tonatiuh Uc, composed an entitled song Quétzalcoatl
you has returned and you is the first time, in our opinion that somebody
says that the Aztec Mission is: to destroy to the colonialism. Is ?Como
able to a singer to dare to say something similar? ?Y like he made to
know it? ...nada, fué their answer. "I began to write and the sentence
came out alone, I didn't inform myself neither I read, neither anything.
I am an ignoramus of the Mexicayotl but I believe that I already arrive
the time of knowing it, of discovering it", he told us. According to the
Confederation of the Solar Mexicanidad, Mexico has that reimplantar the
culture, to come undone of all that is of foreign origin and to restart
the progress. They speak of culture, of progress. He understands each
other that Mexico should come undone of the Spanish language, to adopt
Mexican mathematics (Mayan, Teotihuacanas, etc.), the Aztec calendar and
all that is part of the culture to leave the underdevelopment that we
were imposed from 1521. While the such Tonatiuh Uc us confrontation speech,
without saying it, us speech of war. ?Sabian the Aztecs which serious
their mission? Surely that not, otherwise they had left it written. Serious
?Cual, then the mission? The only reason so that the Aztecs abandoned
Aztlan it was the one of fulfilling the mission. Behind of them everything
faded, everything became hostile, they could not return behind, the only
option was to advance, always ahead. Even, the sentence that lasts is
Meshica tiahui": !Mexicanos, ahead! If one makes a small analysis of the
mission of any big civilisacion of the history serious ?Cual the mission
of a great town that he abandons origin sulugar to complete it? Him but
easy it is to imagine that that town would have to face a GREAT WRONG.
In the case of Mexico that GREAT WRONG would be attacked Mexico, America
and to the whole world ...y which serious that GREAT WRONG? To Moctezuma
he is announced from Aztlan: "foreigners of the other side of the sea
arrived and they will destroy everything". soon after they arrived of
the other side of the Spanish sea, Portuguese, French and Englishmen and
the culture Aztec satiny fué. Of Alaska to the Patagonia languages and
come people's of the other side of the sea customs were adopted". Of Alaska
to the the Patagonia you extranjerizo to the continent. To the Aztec of
North and South America (all the towns come from Aztlan", he tells us
the history), included Mexico, appellative change and he is called " Indian
", without keeping in mind that the Aztec comes from Aztlan, not of India.
If it is analyzed a little, all that come of the other side of the serious
sea the GREAT WRONG to which the Aztec town would have to face ...y like?
The GREAT WRONG you installs in North America, there, the conquerors were
never deshalojados, they never lost and they installed the scorn without
measure for the Aztec race and all the other races of the current world.
There they settled the Reservations, the Ghettos and of there they will
colonize to Half East, Africa (aparthaid), Asia (Hong Kong, Korea, Vietnam,
etc.); of there it is invaded Panama, Granada, is bombarded Iraq, yugoslavia,
Libya, etc. That GREAT WRONG razes with the culture of Mexico, America
and he threatens to all lospueblos of the world. THE AZTEC MISSION With
riezgo to make a mistake, we can say that the Aztec Mission contains two
intimately united parts. You cannot fulfill the half and to leave the
other half for but late. They have to be applied the two parts from the
mission to the same tiempo.1-La culture, 2-Marchar toward the north. The
first one consists on to implant the Mexicayotl and to come undone of
all foreign influence for, in that way, to leave the underdevelopment
in benefit of the Mexican race and of all the other ones. The second consist
on going toward the north to liberate Mexico, America and to the whole
world of the constant threat of the colonialism. It is of being supposed
that the Aztecs from all America and the Aztecs of all the corners of
the planet (all the towns come from Aztlan") they are clever to be part
of the great epic poem that will be directed by today's Mexicas. All the
Mexicans, not a group neither an organisacion, sino all. The world observes
with interest that he makes Mexico, because, without knowing it, it is
sensed that it should be advanced by the road that our country chooses.
?Es that the Aztec Mission? Probably if, probably not. He/she would be
necessary to speak to them from the matter to specialists of the question
to arrive to final unaconclusion. Meanwhile, we will continue ahead. !

BE
NOT SAD FOR MI.
He encontrado las
sonrisa.

Correspond to who: Hello, my name is Claudio Uribe Lic. in sciences of
the communication in the UNIVA (University of the Valley of Atemajac)
in Guadalajara Jalisco, and current student of the licentiate in Biological
Sciences in the OR of G (University of Guadalajara) before anything else
I want to congratulate them for its excellent page, it is simple and functional,
besides complete. Recently I went to a congress of handling of natural
areas and an exhibitor spoke something about the Isthmus of Tehuantepec
and of a project that he has United States to make a channel like that
of Panama, this person exposed some pictures of satellite of the area
in which you could appreciate as the fires that had just happened in the
place they traced the theoretical route of the channel of the Isthmus
exactly (something curious), you/he/she was also spoken of the ecological
impact that would cause besides she practices it expropriation of that
area on the part of the UNITED STATES. In the most attentive way, I would
like to receive information about the topic, if it is that this it is
in the measure of their possibilities, I am very interested and I am documenting
at this time he/she stops in a next future to organize a small group of
pressure against such an event. Many thank you are attn to their orders.

you The technique to the service of the Homeland"
Hello
dear compatriots (exbautista@aol.com)
Hello like they are, the reason for which I write them is that the elections
are already come in June and hopefully everything is clear, we have to
choose a ruler that represents us to all the Mexicans, non ,nomas to some,
I am so far from my homeland because in my country one is not able to,
we have to look for a gbierno system for all that the interests of all
citizen are respected, oh that to finish with the corruption, the dedaso,
that damned abito of being made of the fat view, to diminish the poverty
in our country, I am of a valley of towns for the coast where the presidents
municipal an requested by years that you help us with the highway but
or less decent, no, with, highways for dogs; we have to finish with this
it seals of government that has stolen him wing nation per years, he has
stayed in the gobernatura per decades (7), the one that stayed in the
power per years was the Soviet union, in mexico we speak of democracy,
we tell him there is Cuba that wing democracy moves, but seeing it well
with regard to the PRI is same, in the last Porfirio Días he/she stayed
for 30 years, the town fights for democracy, Porfirio control to Timber
to the jail and it seals it it continued, in brazil in government gave
food to its people for the vote, in Argentina there was also war and the
hunger continues. Bolivia is another as mexico, the one that sends is
the strong one and look like it follows its country. I want to be sincere
in Mexico had had a change, but I don't eat all they wanted that we all
moved to the same address that the tecnology, the thing this very desaproporcionada
in mexico, the Mexicans that we are here wanted to vote to choose our
government but unfortunately it was not possible, they say that the congress
Mexican non aprovo the law for the wet ones to vote, because they know
very well that here habemos 30 million Mexicans and it can be the difference
in the vote, because we see in another way the thing, it is everything
of this umilde mixteco, excuse my Spanish, he/she didn't already many
years ago practice it. Greetings to all my Mexican siblings, bye, love
you very much, Juan.
